Nadia Yanowsky, born in Madrid, comes from a lineage steeped in the world of dance. With both parents, Carmen Robles and Anatoli Yanowsky, serving as principal dancers with the Lyon Opera Ballet, it’s no surprise that Nadia embraced a career in ballet from an early age.
Her journey in dance was marked by significant achievements, including winning the silver medal and audience prize at the prestigious Luxembourg International Ballet Competition in 2001. In 2002, she joined the English National Ballet, where she honed her craft under the mentorship of former Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) Artistic Director Matz Skoog.
A pivotal moment in her career occurred in 2003 when Nadia became a soloist with the Staatsballett Berlin, under the direction of the renowned Vladimir Malakhov. In 2008, she transitioned to the Royal New Zealand Ballet, where she quickly rose to prominence as a principal dancer. Among her many memorable performances, she notably took part in the revival of William Forsythe's *In The Middle, Somewhat Elevated* in 2017, and she showcased her talent in leading roles in productions such as *The Piano: The Ballet* and *The Nutcracker* in 2018.
Throughout her illustrious career, Nadia has performed a diverse repertoire, dancing major roles in both classical and contemporary ballets. She has collaborated with some of the most celebrated choreographers in the field, including William Forsythe, George Balanchine, and Hans Van Manen, and has graced the stage in timeless classics such as *Swan Lake*, *Cinderella*, and *The Sleeping Beauty*.
Beyond her performances, Nadia has been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of dancers. Since 2005, she has actively participated in summer schools, providing valuable mentorship to preprofessional and professional ballet dancers around the globe.
Today, Nadia Yanowsky continues to make a profound impact on the dance community, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience as a teacher and guest tutor. Her journey is a testament to her passion for dance and her commitment to fostering talent within the art form.
